second game created!

Hi! I thought I'd make a post about my progress as a game developer. Also itch.io keeps insisting that I do that lol

If any of you played my first game, welcome back! I started game development on and off throughout many different periods of my life, but nothing ever came from it. As in, I never completed a single project, and always was at the same level of coding knowledge. Finally, in 2025, I tried again but on a different game engine. I downloaded Game Maker, and I began watching some of their official tutorials on how to make some basic games- an RPG, Space Rocks, and some other platformers which ended up feeling redundant by the end. I did that for up to a week, until I really felt stuck in that process; every tutorial started feeling the same.

So I decided to push myself and join a game jam in hopes of suddenly blooming lol. Miraculously, that worked. It was a one week game jam, and the theme was, well, not very good to be honest. So I used a different game jam's theme and combined the two to try and get motivated that way, and that's how I came up with the Sorceress's Time Paradox game! :D

Shortly after the game jam ended, my motivation and flow and momentum all came crashing down. It wasn't really because of the game jam ending or anything like that. It had to do with a lot more personal reasons, so I probably won't go into that at this time. In any case, I told myself that I would one day return and continue my game development journey.  There was a very sweet game jam coming up called Games For A Cause game jam 2025. I told myself "join it before it ends. Even if it's on the last day, JOIN." The game jam was originally 2 weeks, and those two weeks went by.... The Game Jam got extended to being 3 weeks, which was a lucky coincidence for me. About 2 days before it ended, I went onto itch.io and clicked "join". I tried making what I could in time, and... sadly, I was too late. The submission period ended at 7:00 pm, it was 6:55 pm as I was struggling to remember how to even upload my game lol. 6:59 I upload it, but I get an error. 7:00 hit, and it was too late to enter. I ended up with a very incomplete game uploaded around 7:04 or something.

I didn't let that stop me though. I got addicted to game development once again! A few days after the submission period ended, I completed my demo version. That's this game! Save the Animals Incremental/Clicker. Current version is from 3 days of game development. I plan on continuing with this game :)

If anyone reads this, thank you! I hope sharing my experiences can encourage others to also not give up as well. Hope you're all doing well :)
